PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $33.17-$40.53 hourly. The full Pay Range is $25.77-$47.93 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

As a Card Security Analyst I, you will play a critical role in analyzing card-related data to identify fraudulent activity and prevent potential losses. Your work will contribute to the protection of our members' financial well-being and the overall integrity of our organization. By leveraging your analytical skills and collaborating with law enforcement and retail merchants, you will make a direct impact on mitigating exposure to fraudulent activities.

What You’ll Do

Leverage BECU competencies and compliance: Perform all duties in line with BECU competencies, compliance, regulatory requirements, and information protection standards.
Analyze fraud alerts: Maintain and analyze fraud alerts received from MasterCard and VISA to identify potentially fraudulent activity.
Propose fraud minimization strategies: Monitor systems and propose strategies to minimize fraud across the organization's portfolio of debit and credit cards.
Investigate fraud activity: Respond to and investigate reported fraud activity for MasterCard and VISA and monitor the department's fraud detection system for suspicious debit card activity.
Stay informed on regulations: Maintain knowledge of Regulation E and Regulation Z and their impact on day-to-day operations.
Collaborate with stakeholders: Partner with Card Security Analyst II to ensure effective implementation of fraud prevention strategies and build and maintain relationships with law enforcement and financial industry contacts.
Manage workload effectively: Maintain an acceptable caseload through effective time management and regular communication with third-party monitoring providers.
Ensure compliance with reporting: Complete all required reports to relevant authorities and provide immediate responses to possible violations, including OFAC, CIP, USA Patriot Act, Bank Secrecy Act, and Money Laundering.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent work or educational experience.
Minimum one year of experience in a Security/Financial Institution; two years preferred.
Previous experience with spreadsheet and word processing.
Proficiency with current programs, analytic tools and techniques used by the card payment industry.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with card authentication tools (e.g., Falcon).
Proven experience preparing and analyzing data in a logical manner and summarizing findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to converse and describe acts of fraud and suspect description with emergency personnel.
