General Counsel & Corporate Secretary

10+ Years, Downtown Toronto (Hybrid)

ALT Recruitment Partners has partnered with a non-profit organization in the regulatory space to hire a General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. In this role, you will report to the President & CEO and work with senior leaders to provide counsel to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO, the Executive, and all other members of the team. The General Counsel will demonstrate integrity above reproach, with the ability to think creatively, strategically, and critically to present optimal solutions. The GC will partner with other departments across all areas as well as with external counsel and must possess outstanding leadership and communication skills.

Candidates interested in being considered for this role must have at least 10 years of legal practice experience. Experience working in the insurance industry is required. You must have experience advising boards and business leaders in the insurance or financial services sector and with corporate governance matters. Working knowledge of general legal matters such as insolvency, M&A, compliance, contracts, labour and employment, privacy, and litigation is preferred.
